The first two where statement-less amounts, probably more speaking about the money, they could find for this project, then stating what a composer should earn. Interestingly enough, Agvarde, the last contributor, wanted to add their amount to the other twos, and consciously not buy another day for it. I guess, they wanted to raise the 27th of february to a reasonable (in their minds) fee for a composers working day on a Saturday.
Here their answers the questionair:
Lars, for BEK
Pay A Day:
Does your commission fee represents your idea, what an artist should earn per day?
No, less.
How did you chose 'your' day?
Random
Does the kind of day - week or weekend - made a difference for your fee? Should it make a difference?
No difference
Would you find it weird to not get a free ticket to the performance of the piece, you payed for?
Yes
Did you ever pay for an artwork, beside paying for entrance tickets? Did you ever commission a work of art?
Yes to both questions
Do you expect me to work on this project/piece? How would you specify your commission, if I asked you to?
Do your best
Did you check my personal blog/website before you decided paying me a day of work? And did the work you saw there have an influence on your decision?
No
Do you expect me to spent the entire day working? Should my working time be related to the fee? Would you suggest a logical formula for this?
Result matters, not the time spent
Do you have a message coming with your contribution? Or a special question? Which one?

In general:
Would you pay only for good art?
You never know in advance what will be good or bad, do you..
Who should pay for art? (society, artists themselves, other artists, sponsors, the actual audience, ...)
Everybody
Who should be payed for art? (everybody, who makes art? everybody, who calls himself an artists? the state, so they can pay the artists? amateurs? studied artists? only the good ones? ...)
Those who make art
What should an artist earn per day?
Enough to make art tomorrow, as well.
What should be the relation between the fee and the work of art? Should their be an influence from one or the other side?
-
Social Piece:
Do you like the title?
I thought Pay-a-day was the title
Do you mind, if the piece doesn't include music?
No
Would you mind being actively integrated in the performance:
- as a member of the audience?
- as a sponsor?
I prefer passive integration as a member of the audience
Will you be there at the performance (10 March 2010 in Bergen)?
I'll do my best to be there
Should Social Piece be related to Pay A Day? Should it reflect the sponsorship, the single fees and the raised questions and their answers?
In some way it will be, regardlessly
Do you have a wish for Social Piece?
Good luck to you and the kids
Avgarde:
Does your commission fee represents your idea, what an artist should earn per day?
No, the fee is what we could afford. I placed our fee on a day where you had already received some funding, thus you will receive a higher salary for that day. This seemed fitting, since our contributions did not correlate to an appropriate days wage.
Would you find it weird to not get a free ticket to the performance of the piece, you payed for?
No. As an arranger I know better than most that the ticket is actually a very small portion of what a performance actually costs, so I realize the futility in demanding free entrance.
Did you ever pay for an artwork, beside paying for entrance tickets? Did you ever commission a work of art?
Yes. Avgarde as a concert arranger has both paid for art, and has also commissioned pieces before.
Did you check my personal blog/website before you decided paying me a day of work? And did the work you saw there have an influence on your decision?
I was aware of your work before this piece, so unfortunately I cannot answer this honestly. The decision to contribute was made as a show of solidarity since we are members of the New Music community in Bergen.
Do you expect me to spent the entire day working? Should my working time be related to the fee? Would you suggest a logical formula for this?
I expect to see a finished product, of which you would be proud to present. Unfortunately there is no formula that I know of for how much one earns in the cultural field. However, if you absolutely must put it in a formula may I suggest the Pythagorean theorem?
Do you have a message coming with your contribution? Or a special question? Which one?
In general:
Would you pay only for good art? If I had the ability to time travel? Possibly. Otherwise it's quite hard to know beforehand if a performance will be what one considers as good art.
Who should pay for art? (society, artists themselves, other artists, sponsors, the actual audience, ...)
Everyone. It keeps society honest and sane.
Social Piece:
Do you mind, if the piece doesn't include music?
Since you have called it a composition I had assumed it involved music. It does not need to include music if you as the artist do not believe that's what the piece is about.
Would you mind being actively integrated in the performance:
- as a member of the audience?
It depends on what one must do to be actively integrated.
- as a sponsor?
It depends on what way you intend to integrate it.
Will you be there at the performance (10 March 2010 in Bergen)?
Yes
Should Social Piece be related to Pay A Day? Should it reflect the sponsorship, the single fees and the raised questions and their answers?
Yes, simultaneously.
Do you have a wish/concern for Social Piece?
I want it to create Social Peace.
